Loading Tape
8mm and 12mm
- Cut the tape straight across one of the indexing holes, leaving a semicircle.
- Peel back a few millimeters of film.
- Feed the tape into the opening on the back of the feeder, film side up.
- Align the semicircle in the tape to the first tooth on the drive wheel.
- Guide the loose film out of the pick window.
- Press and hold the forward button while pulling upward on the film.
- Wrap the film around the feeder and guide it into the slot leading to the peel gears.
- Press and hold both buttons until the status light turns yellow (Peel mode).
- Press and hold the forward button to spin the peel motor and feed film between the two straight gears. Stop when the film is taut.
- Check the film is caught behind the peg, then tap the forward button to feed and confirm loading. Feed at least twice to ensure consistent feeding.
Using Film Extensions: extensions are strips of film with an adhesive end that let you load without wasting parts. Apply the adhesive end to your tape end, load per the steps above, trim a few cm beyond the peel gears, then continue from the repair step with the film extension.
Toggling Modes
Pressing and holding both buttons toggles between Drive and Peel modes. Blue = Drive mode; yellow = Peel mode.
Watch Out: when feeding film into the peel gears, guide the film away from the worm gear. If it gets caught between the worm gear and a peel gear it can damage the peel gear.
16mm and 24mm
- Insert your tape into the opening on the back of the feeder until visible in the pick window.
- Lift the pick window and grab the film.
- Press and hold the forward button while pulling gently to engage the tape with the drive wheel.
- Drive until parts are visible and the film reaches the gold peel gears.
- Press both buttons until the light turns gold (Peel mode).
- Feed film into the peel gears until it sticks out the back.
- Gently disengage the peel gears, pull the film through to take up slack, and check the film is centered in the guide.
Tape Exit Path: exiting tape can lead into entering tape and catch. Guide exiting tape to the side away from entering tape.
Next: Continue to the pick position.
